As you can see from our photo collection below this is a great place to sit and watch the Osprey adults and chicks, red squirrels, lesser spotted woodpeckers, siskins, blue tits and more. There is a one way window so that visitors can sit and watch their antics as they feed from an assortment of seed and nut feeders and even hollowed out tree trunks.

The main stars though are the osprey on the Loch of Lowes which has a webcam feed to a High Definition TV in the centre and also is streamed onto the web.
You have the choice of three hides to sit nearer to them and look through the binoculars and telescope that the Scottish Wildlife Trust Centre kindly provide. Two are on ground level so are suitable for disabled visitors and one is higher up, with steps, to provide a better observation post. One is in keeping with the history of the area and is made into a crannog.

Car parking is free and those with a blue badge can drive closer to the centre. There are toilets and though no cafe, there are plenty of vending machines selling hot and cold drinks and snacks.
It has plenty of information boards around the place with fascinating bird and mammal facts. For instance we learnt that Osprey have a wing span of 145 to 170cm and lay 2 to 3 eggs. These incubate for 37 days and the young fly off from 7 to 8 weeks.
There are beaver in the area and below is a log that has been gnawed by them and you can make out their teeth marks.
In and around the water you can observe reed bunting, sedge warblers, common sandpiper, whopper swans and pink footed geese.
It makes a relaxing day out and needs at least two hours to enjoy watching the birds and animals, use the interactive exhibitions and chat to the friendly knowledgeable staff.
