Review of the Crieff Hydro Spa Hotel and family friendly holiday resort including leisure facilities and restaurant
The Crieff Hydro Hotel & Resort is a one stop location for family fun and relaxation. Set amongst the stunning Perthshire hills and with views of the stunning trees and hills it makes for a tranquil holiday location. This 900 acre resort has something for everyone, from high adrenaline sports down to chilling out in the adult only Victorian Spa. This top hotel caters for all ages and is one of the most child friendly places we have ever seen in Scotland. Parents can make use of the child care facilities including creche and there is plenty of organised entertainment to keep youngsters amused.

The Aberdeen skies are under attack from an enemy jet. It is spilling a strange yellow smoke. Minutes later, people start killing each other.
Former Royal Air Force Regiment Gunner Jason Harper witnesses this and then his wife, Pippa, telephones him, shouting that she needs him. They then get cut off. He sets straight out, unprepared for the nightmare that unfolds during his journey. Everyone seems to want to kill him.
Along the way, he pairs up with fellow survivor Imogen. But she enjoys killing the living dead far too much. Will she kill Jason in her blood thirst? Or will she hinder his journey through this zombie filled dystopian landscape to find his pregnant wife?
The Fence is the first in this series of post-apocalyptic military survival thrillers from the torturous mind of local horror and science fiction novel writer C.G. Buswell.

There is plenty of free parking and most sporting and leisure facilities are within a short walk or drive away. Crieff town centre is also just a short stroll away.
The rooms are spacious and wonderfully maintained. The photograph below shows an example of a double room which we found to be spacious enough for our needs; the executive rooms are even larger. There is a TV, hairdryer, iron and kettle in each room along with a range of teas, coffees, milk and complimentary shortbread. The toiletries consist of bars of soap, shampoos and bath or shower gel and are top range from the White Company.
Do leave time to enjoy the large breakfasts and tasty evening meals. We opted for the dinner package where we had an inclusive allowance which was enough for a three course meal with tea or coffee and their delicious tablet sweets. There are several restaurants to choose from ranging from the formal Meikle which is named after the first owner, a pizza restaurant called Piccolo and a Brasserie. Breakfast includes a wide range of continental choices including cold meats, cheeses, cereals, yoghurts, croissants, pastries, etc, whilst the hot buffet includes haggis, black pudding, hash browns, mushrooms, beans, thick cut bacon, sausages, potato scones, etc.
Some of our favourite dinner dishes included pigeon with rhubarb puree, Ayrshire belly pork and this stunningly presented haggis, neeps and tatties:
Do try the Winter Garden cafe for some wonderful cakes and treats, you must order their bakewell tart which I greatly enjoyed.
What we loved best about the our stay and is a top feature added in various Crieff Hydro reviews is the friendliness and helpfulness of each member of staff. From the first phone call to book a room through to checking out we enjoyed the infectious smiling and cheerfulness of everyone. Whether it was silver service in the Meikle restaurant or a quick snack in the cafe we found the service swift and efficient, with nothing too much trouble. This isn't a faceless hotel - it's a family run business and this feeling of a personal touch carries through to each member of staff. It truly did feel like home from home.
In addition to the Hotel there are also self-catering accommodation, which includes cottages and chalets set in the estate.
We enjoyed a Segways trail and quad biking during our long weekend visit. There is also a swimming pool and Jacuzzi, cinema and games rooms. Visitors can also enjoy pony trekking, paint balling, a tree top rope course, tennis, golf and putting. Nearby attractions include Auchingarrich Wildlife Park and the Cultybraggan Prisoner of War Camp.
