My new novel:
The Aberdeen skies are under attack from an enemy jet. It is spilling a strange yellow smoke. Minutes later, people start killing each other.
Former Royal Air Force Regiment Gunner Jason Harper witnesses this and then his wife, Pippa, telephones him, shouting that she needs him. They then get cut off. He sets straight out, unprepared for the nightmare that unfolds during his journey. Everyone seems to want to kill him.
Along the way, he pairs up with fellow survivor Imogen. But she enjoys killing the living dead far too much. Will she kill Jason in her blood thirst? Or will she hinder his journey through this zombie filled dystopian landscape to find his pregnant wife?
The Fence is the first in this series of post-apocalyptic military survival thrillers from the torturous mind of local horror and science fiction novel writer C.G. Buswell.

The
Aberdeen Beach 2014 beach clean up takes place on Friday TBA April. Individuals, businesses, schools, universities and local youth groups are all invited to take part. As an added incentive all those who take part will be rewarded with a BBQ and an M&S gift voucher of £5 off a £30 spend in their food hall.
The Lord Provost, George Adam, will be taking part and said:
I am looking forward to putting on my wellies to join the other volunteers to take part in this Marks and Spencer UK wide initiative. If we all do our bit we will not only help the environment and marine life we will ensure residents and visitors will continue to enjoy the golden sands of the Silver City for many years to come.
Beach Watch
This beach watch clean up forms a week of events taking place across 113 locations in the UK from 22nd and 28th April.
Amy Jackson, commercial manager for Marks and Spencers two stores in Union Square and on Nicholas Street, said:
This is a great way for customers and M&S colleagues to volunteer, help their local community and protect local marine life. With the weather slowly improving, it is also a great excuse to get outdoors and have some fun! Whats more is that all volunteers are helping the environment; their community and those that register through the Marine Conservation Societys website in advance get a 5 money-off voucher.
Big Beach Clean Up
This big beach clean up is being run with the support of the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) and the Canal & River Trust (CRT). It is estimated that about 8,000 people will get involved and remove 15 tonnes of litter. You can register for the event at
www.mcsuk.org/foreverfish
In addition you can complete the annual litter survey and jelly fish survey to help their statistics.
Much of the debris collected will be items such as fishing nets, ropes and bottles tops. According to the MCS there are two pieces of litter on every metre of our coastline, most of it plastic. The harmful impacts of plastic on the UKs marine life are becoming ever more apparent and the MCS is concerned that plastic pieces are found in the digestive systems of fish including Whiting, John Dory and Gurnard.
Clean Up Beaches
Odd items found last year by clean up beaches volunteers included a set of false teeth, half a sofa in Edinburgh, a cabinet near Liverpool, a ten-pin bowling ball in Deal, a carpet in Clacton and a pink thong at Shoreham.
Have you seen my beautiful golden retriever Lynne out and about in Aberdeen? Ask her for a high-five! She's a Bravehound PTSD assistance dog, so we'll often be in shops, restaurants, and the cinema together.
We've written a book where I talk about growing up in Aberdeen and then joining the army to be a medic and nurse, and developing military Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
I also talk about losing my son to suicide and the therapy I have had at Royal Cornhill Hospital and grief support groups in Aberdeen.
The author, Damien Lewis, said of Lynne:
"A powerful account of what one dog means to one man on his road to recovery. Both heart-warming and life-affirming. Bravo Chris and Lynne. Bravo Bravehound."

Last year over 6,000 people (4,000 M&S employees and 2,000 M&S customers) volunteered and collected 3,200 bin bags full of litter after tidying over 100km, which also included canals. The bags weighed in at over 11.5 tonnes. This included 12,800 wrappers and 2,850 tin cans.
Since M&S introduced a 5p charge for carrier bags five years ago they have donated these profits to their Forever Fish campaign. This reduced carrier bag use by 78 per cent and raised over 4 million for charity. Find out more at
