The village has its own swimming pool, tennis courts, bowling green and a 9 and 18 hole golf course. Surrounding sports facilities in the area includes horse riding, shooting, fishing, climbing and gliding.

There is a supermarket, butchers, hairdressers, Post Office, hotels, banks, pubs, restaurants and takeaways, a primary and secondary school and a village hall.
Each year they hold the Aboyne Highland Games on the village green.
