Egg Relaxation Massaging Capsule Machine

The massage and relaxation egg machine at A Cut Above Aberdeen Hairdresser What it does, costs and the benefits

Cut Above Hairdresser Union Street Aberdeen

A Cut Above Hairdresser in Union Street, Aberdeen boasts the first and so far only Egg relaxation capsule in Scotland. It was designed by massage therapist David Craig to provide 15 minutes of stress relief to people who could simply walk in, lie down with their clothes on and unwind. And it works perfectly. We've tried it out, enjoyed the experience, and felt so much happier and relaxed afterwards.

The capsule is located on the top floor of A Cut Above. You can't miss it as you walk in - it's a big blue egg in the corner, it almost reminded us of a Tardis! The staff give you a briefing on how to use the machine and then you are given complete control. You can open the doors and finish the session whenever you want - though we doubt you'd want to do this as it is such an enjoyable experience.

My new novel:

The Fence Aberdeen Zombie post apocalyptic military survival Novel Book

The Aberdeen skies are under attack from an enemy jet. It is spilling a strange yellow smoke. Minutes later, people start killing each other.
Former Royal Air Force Regiment Gunner Jason Harper witnesses this and then his wife, Pippa, telephones him, shouting that she needs him. They then get cut off. He sets straight out, unprepared for the nightmare that unfolds during his journey. Everyone seems to want to kill him.
Along the way, he pairs up with fellow survivor Imogen. But she enjoys killing the living dead far too much. Will she kill Jason in her blood thirst? Or will she hinder his journey through this zombie filled dystopian landscape to find his pregnant wife?
The Fence is the first in this series of post-apocalyptic military survival thrillers from the torturous mind of local horror and science fiction novel writer C.G. Buswell.

How The Egg Massage Machine Works

The doors to The Egg gently close behind you and some relaxing music starts. The soothing voice of a lady will give you instructions throughout your session. All you really have to do is to take off your shoes, lie down on the massage bed and forget your cares and worries. Your clothes stay on and no-one is around as you start to relax. The lights will gradually fade and a starry sky will slowly appear. As this occurs relaxing aromatherapy oils will be gently and unobtrusively sprayed into The Egg. The massage mattress will start to vibrate, from your feet right up to your shoulders using wave and pulse therapy. It's a very gentle massage and lovely and relaxing. As your session ends you will see the stars being replaced by the sun and the music will gradually be turned down and then switched off. This takes about 2 minutes, so there's no need to suddenly get up and out: just keep enjoying the relaxing effects. The doors will slowly automatically open when your session ends.

If you've come in a group then there is a comfortable waiting area with magazines and a water cooler and cups. We've always been offered tea and coffee from the friendly staff.

Benefits Of the Egg Massager

The main benefit of The Egg is relaxation. With this comes other benefits such as lowering blood pressure and respirations, improving skin tone, loosening muscles, assisting cellulite reduction, calming the nervous system and promoting a deeper sleep. Regular use will encourage the release of endorphins, the body's natural painkiller, which will improve tiredness, aching muscles and help improve your posture and movement. The Egg is ideal for people suffering from stress, strain, headaches, backache, muscle spasms and period pain.

A 15 minute massage session in The Egg costs £10.

Aberdeen Lynne Golden Retriever

Have you seen my beautiful golden retriever Lynne out and about in Aberdeen? Ask her for a high-five! She's a Bravehound PTSD assistance dog, so we'll often be in shops, restaurants, and the cinema together.

We've written a book where I talk about growing up in Aberdeen and then joining the army to be a medic and nurse, and developing military Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

I also talk about losing my son to suicide and the therapy I have had at Royal Cornhill Hospital and grief support groups in Aberdeen.

The author, Damien Lewis, said of Lynne:

"A powerful account of what one dog means to one man on his road to recovery. Both heart-warming and life-affirming. Bravo Chris and Lynne. Bravo Bravehound."

In March 2007 Aberdeen Football club Manager Jimmy Calderwood had a spa massage machine similar to the egg installed at Pittodrie Stadium. The egg shaped computerised spa capsule is there to help the Dons relax after their football matches and training sessions. The players will benefit from the steam therapy and high powered water jets whilst they sit and relax. The people behind this egg spa areWater Wave Therapy from The Galleria shopping centre.
