Cosmo Aberdeen Buffet Restaurant

A warm welcome from cheerful, polite staff awaits the diner. Our eyes were drawn to the huge chocolate fountain as we walked past the bountiful desserts section to get to our table. It’s all about pacing and relaxing and the plush chairs help with this, as does knowing you need to leave room for those tasty puddings!
It's no wonder COSMO is celebrating its 10th anniversary next month. They’ve built on their success and are ready to entertain and feed Aberdeen visitors well into another decade, proving they are a top place to eat in the Granite City.

Our drinks arrived within minutes from their wide range, which includes offers like pitchers of beer and bottomless selected soft drinks. A plethora of cocktails and wines makes this an ideal location to enjoy a night out with friends and family. Sharing and togetherness is encouraged, and it was a delight to see so many families, many multi-generational, having fun and eating together.

Children have their own discounted prices and mixed in amongst the Asian, Continental and World of Spice sections are standard fare like onion rings, chips, and chicken nuggets. Our favourites are the sensational lamb rogan josh with aloo channa with some chilli pickle. Though we must confess to going along the counter and having a piece of everything. The chicken balti was too irresistible. The poppadom’s and samosas were extra crispy. We did the same for the World of Spice section and filled our plates with Thai sweet chilli chicken wings, honey chilli chicken, chicken in black pepper sauce and Thai sweet tofu. Vegans and vegetarians are well catered for with many enticing dishes.

The Fence Aberdeen Zombie post apocalyptic military survival Novel Book

The Aberdeen skies are under attack from an enemy jet. It is spilling a strange yellow smoke. Minutes later, people start killing each other.
Former Royal Air Force Regiment Gunner Jason Harper witnesses this and then his wife, Pippa, telephones him, shouting that she needs him. They then get cut off. He sets straight out, unprepared for the nightmare that unfolds during his journey. Everyone seems to want to kill him.
Along the way, he pairs up with fellow survivor Imogen. But she enjoys killing the living dead far too much. Will she kill Jason in her blood thirst? Or will she hinder his journey through this zombie filled dystopian landscape to find his pregnant wife?
The Fence is the first in this series of post-apocalyptic military survival thrillers from the torturous mind of local horror and science fiction novel writer C.G. Buswell.

We were too full to choose from the carvery, though a return visit is on the cards to enjoy the giant Yorkshire puddings, super crispy roast potatoes, and the bountiful roast lamb and beef. We’ll make this a Sunday lunch treat. Though we tried several pieces of the expertly rolled sushi.

Sushi buffet

It was such a feast, and the banquet didn’t stop there. We made room for pudding and were glad we did! Do look out for the Eton mess, which was flavoursome with a satisfying meringue crunch. We topped it up with some vanilla ice-cream and jelly babies. Then we shared this selection of cakes, which included a light peach melba and a refreshing lemon cheesecake. Finally, we got to the chocolate fountain and had fun loading up our marshmallows and watched a seasoned COSMO diner spoon some over her ice-cream. ‘I just love chocolate!’ she declared before making off with her bowl.

Aberdeen Lynne Golden Retriever

Have you seen my beautiful golden retriever Lynne out and about in Aberdeen? Ask her for a high-five! She's a Bravehound PTSD assistance dog, so we'll often be in shops, restaurants, and the cinema together.

We've written a book where I talk about growing up in Aberdeen and then joining the army to be a medic and nurse, and developing military Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

I also talk about losing my son to suicide and the therapy I have had at Royal Cornhill Hospital and grief support groups in Aberdeen.

The author, Damien Lewis, said of Lynne:

"A powerful account of what one dog means to one man on his road to recovery. Both heart-warming and life-affirming. Bravo Chris and Lynne. Bravo Bravehound."
