My new novel:

The Fence Aberdeen Zombie post apocalyptic military survival Novel Book

The Aberdeen skies are under attack from an enemy jet. It is spilling a strange yellow smoke. Minutes later, people start killing each other.
Former Royal Air Force Regiment Gunner Jason Harper witnesses this and then his wife, Pippa, telephones him, shouting that she needs him. They then get cut off. He sets straight out, unprepared for the nightmare that unfolds during his journey. Everyone seems to want to kill him.
Along the way, he pairs up with fellow survivor Imogen. But she enjoys killing the living dead far too much. Will she kill Jason in her blood thirst? Or will she hinder his journey through this zombie filled dystopian landscape to find his pregnant wife?
The Fence is the first in this series of post-apocalyptic military survival thrillers from the torturous mind of local horror and science fiction novel writer C.G. Buswell.

Entry and exit to the play area is through a double locked gate system controlled by the reception staff. Parents have to supervise their children at all times (except for the organised disco) but this gate system gives added security to stop and child leaving the building.

Entrance fee is only £3 at off peak times and £4 at peak times. This gives children 2 hours of play, though at less busy times staff give them longer. At reception each family get a special container to put the children's shoes in and in return you get a numbered key ring. Each family have to give their surname, so when your allocated time is up, your surname and or key ring number is called over the tannoy.

Inverurie Disco

There is a supervised disco each Friday evening from 6-8 and children can be left in the care of the staff. At all other times adults taking the children to Planet Kidz must stay in the building and supervise the children's behaviour. There are plenty of seats around the play area for adults to sit down, at the side and back are some really comfortable sofas and these areas are a bit quieter, being further away from the karaoke machine!

No camera or video cameras are permitted in the complex, other than at private parties.

Play Area Inverurie

The play areas are broken down into three sections - Cherubs for the under 2s, Little Champions for children under 5 and Superstars for children aged 5 - 12 years. Socks must be worn in the play areas. The area is on two levels and has safety netting to prevent any falls. All the structure is heavily padded for protection of over enthusiastic children. Spread throughout are padded punch bag type swings, chutes, slides, balls, steps, crawling, running and climbing areas. Here the children can play safely, let off a bit of steam and make new friends. Around the corner is dancing area with a karaoke machine set in a disco floor with flashing and ballroom effect lights. Next door is a padded football pitch and basketball court with padded balls.

There is a cafe right next to the play area, with seats and tables which have viewing access to the complex. There is a wide range of hot and cold drinks for sale (I'd particularly recommend their hot chocolate which is whipped up with cream and topped off with marshmallow) and various snacks such as chip butties, bacon butties, homemade cakes, panninis and sandwiches. Hot meals change each day with their specials (it was macaroni cheese or char grilled chicken salad when we went) and each day meals range from Aberdeen Angus burgers, soups, beans on toast, etc. The children's menu have specially attractive foods such as fishy whales, chicken dippers or sausages - all served with a choice of smileys or chips, beans, peas or sweetcorn. The children can also opt for a kids snack box containing a sandwich, piece of fruit, yoghurt, cake, juice and the all important free toy!

There are toilets inside the complex and a disabled toilet. The toilets and sinks have two levels which suits the younger and older children and adults.

Other facilities at Planet Kidz includes a drop and shop creche, pre-school classes, five a side football and after school activities. They also run party packages which can be themed as a disco, karaoke or sports party. The package includes invitations, exclusive usage of the party room, use of the play areas, unlimited drinks for the children, a range of foods from the menu, organised party games from the trained staff, a photo of the birthday child cutting the cake, helium balloons for the children, a lucky dip gift for each child and much more.

Aberdeen Lynne Golden Retriever

Have you seen my beautiful golden retriever Lynne out and about in Aberdeen? Ask her for a high-five! She's a Bravehound PTSD assistance dog, so we'll often be in shops, restaurants, and the cinema together.

We've written a book where I talk about growing up in Aberdeen and then joining the army to be a medic and nurse, and developing military Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

I also talk about losing my son to suicide and the therapy I have had at Royal Cornhill Hospital and grief support groups in Aberdeen.

The author, Damien Lewis, said of Lynne:

"A powerful account of what one dog means to one man on his road to recovery. Both heart-warming and life-affirming. Bravo Chris and Lynne. Bravo Bravehound."
