My new novel:

The Fence Aberdeen Zombie post apocalyptic military survival Novel Book

The Aberdeen skies are under attack from an enemy jet. It is spilling a strange yellow smoke. Minutes later, people start killing each other.
Former Royal Air Force Regiment Gunner Jason Harper witnesses this and then his wife, Pippa, telephones him, shouting that she needs him. They then get cut off. He sets straight out, unprepared for the nightmare that unfolds during his journey. Everyone seems to want to kill him.
Along the way, he pairs up with fellow survivor Imogen. But she enjoys killing the living dead far too much. Will she kill Jason in her blood thirst? Or will she hinder his journey through this zombie filled dystopian landscape to find his pregnant wife?
The Fence is the first in this series of post-apocalyptic military survival thrillers from the torturous mind of local horror and science fiction novel writer C.G. Buswell.

Children are made very welcome and have their own menu where they can have a main meal, a pudding and a drink for under £6. The kids also get a free goodie bag which contains colouring pens, colouring and activity book, a postcard and a balloon. Plenty to keep them occupied.

Monday through to Friday lunchtimes have a set menu for adults where they can have a starter and main meal for under £6 and the portions are huge. During this and any other times you can also order from their extensive menu. Our favourites are the tear "n" share garlic bread which is lovely and moist and freshly baked, the sizzling fajitas which comes steaming away to your table and is served with a choice of meats such as chicken, steak, lamb or duck, served with salsa, cheese, sour cream and tortillas for rolling and our favourite side order is the deliciously spiced refried beans. Other items on the menu from the starters which will tempt you include loaded potato skins which are filled with BBQ pork, cheese and sour cream, cheese and bacon or a combination, a range of salads such as bacon, avocado and chicken salad, tomato and sweet pepper soup served with tortilla chips and a range of nachos to share.

Do try the sizzling fajitas, there is also a vegetarian option, but if this doesn't tempt you the range of steaks, burgers and BBQ food such as ribs and chicken will. There is also a tasty chilli con carne served with sour cream and tortilla chips and their homemade salmon fish cakes. Salmon lovers can also enjoy a maple glazed fillet which is oven baked and served on a bed of rice and black bean salsa.

Those who prefer a lighter meal can choose from a range of wraps, salads and sandwiches with various fillings such as steak, chicken, pork, peppers, onions, salsa, sour cream, monterey jack cheese, coleslaw, bacon, gaucamole and more.

Do save room as the puddings at Chiquito's are delicious and so tempting. The pecan pie is a particular favourite which is served with summer fruit berries and ice cream or fresh cream. Other seductive desserts are profiteroles which are filled with Tia Maria and served with warmed fudge sauce, a rich chocolate cake, brownie fudge sundae or a New York style cheesecake.

The coffee selection rounds off an excellent meal.

The drinks menu is extensive and includes margaritas which can be bought by the glass or by the pitcher, wines and beers, alcoholic cocktails (their pina colada is the best we've ever tasted) and some fruity non alcoholic cocktails which are really refreshing in the summer. There is a separate bar area where the drinks can be enjoyed.

There is disabled access and the restaurant and bar are all on one level. There are also disabled toilets.

Each Sunday afternoon local magician Garry Seagrave performs magic tricks from table to table, along with his white rabbit in his hat. His cheery and joking style makes Sunday visits a real treat as he deftly performs card tricks, ball disappearing and makes lights disappear up his nose and in his ear! He is very good at entertaining the children whilst stunning the adults. Read more about Garry and how to contact him.

Aberdeen Lynne Golden Retriever

Have you seen my beautiful golden retriever Lynne out and about in Aberdeen? Ask her for a high-five! She's a Bravehound PTSD assistance dog, so we'll often be in shops, restaurants, and the cinema together.

We've written a book where I talk about growing up in Aberdeen and then joining the army to be a medic and nurse, and developing military Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

I also talk about losing my son to suicide and the therapy I have had at Royal Cornhill Hospital and grief support groups in Aberdeen.

The author, Damien Lewis, said of Lynne:

"A powerful account of what one dog means to one man on his road to recovery. Both heart-warming and life-affirming. Bravo Chris and Lynne. Bravo Bravehound."
